Journey to RILLA

Blog #001

Yay, welcome! I am so excited about this first blog post, and to tell you about RILLA and the spark that inspired my brand. Oh ya, hi, I'm Shaadi, the girl behind the brand - the designer, maker, website whiz in-training, so ya, let’s get into it.

Inspiration

A few years ago I decided, on a whim, to make a pair of earrings. At that time I hadn’t made any jewelry since childhood, but I got this idea in my head and decided to follow that thought. They were a pair of beaded fringe earrings that I think took me ten hours to make, but I loved it and I still wear and love them. Making that pair of earrings sparked a love for handmade jewelry and I soon began making more pieces, exploring new techniques and materials along the way. My whim became a catalyst for me and inspired a new vision for my life.

The Art of Creation

From the luster of freshwater pearls to the delicate hues of semi-precious stones, every element is carefully chosen to evoke the essence of nature's beauty. Gemstones and pearls are radiant gifts from the earth and I choose to highlight their beauty with simple designs that allow them shine. As you can probably tell I am deeply inspired by nature but often times my pieces are born from play. I get out all of my gems and goodies and just start to play until something catches my eye.

Embracing Growth and Transformation

My first step in taking my jewelry from hobby to business was committing to a pop-up event at a small boutique. I was so nervous but it ended up being amazing. I sold most of the pieces I brought and received really encouraging feedback from customers. This experience was a turning point for me, giving me the confidence to embrace growth and fully commit to building my brand.

From a small seed, RILLA has blossomed into a symbol of light and inspiration in my life. I truly hope to share my love with every customer and everyone who interacts with me and my jewelry. While my brand may be young, I am dedicated to keeping authenticity and integrity at the forefront of everything that I do.

Foundations of My Brand

My journey making jewelry began at a beautiful time in my life, as I was embracing the magical depths of meditation and spiritual practice. These practices changed my life and through them I uncovered the light within myself and found the courage to follow my heart. Doing that led me to start this business, with the intention of sharing the love I feel through each piece I make.

This brand is an expression of love and creativity but also of connection. I love making my pieces by hand because it creates that connection between me and the wearer. It feels like a tangible representation of my deep connection to the universe and the energy that binds us all. I choose to create my pieces and my business consciously. This means letting my spirit lead the way but also putting thought and care into every decision I make.

I always prioritize ethical and responsible suppliers which make up the vast majority of my purchases, although in some cases I do not have access to supply chain information regarding some of the materials I source. I am very mindful of the impact of my business and strive to make choices that reflect my care. This includes producing in small batches and making most items to order to prevent overproduction and reduce waste. I use only recyclable packaging and in most cases those items are also made with post consumer recycled content.

As I continue to grow and evolve, I am committed to upholding these values, making each decision with intention and sincerity. This journey is not just about creating jewelry; it’s about building a legacy of love and inspiration.

Radiating Love

While you explore this jewelry, may you feel the love woven into each piece. Whether you're adorning yourself or gifting a loved one, let each piece serve as a gentle reminder to embrace your light and celebrate the beauty within. I am honored to be part of your journey, offering pieces that symbolize love and connection.
